The mission of the master of Science in Midwifery is to graduate local and national professional competent midwives to meet health care needs, promotes, improves, and sustains human health through evidence-based education and advances in research and practice

Program Objectives
- Qualifying a scientifically and practically capable midwife to provide integrated services at a high level in the field of obstetrics and reproductive health in order to achieve safe motherhood
- Providing the midwife with the information and skills that enable her to anticipate, identify, prevent where possible and participate in discover and managing complications throughout the childbearing continuum to promote positive outcomes
- Apply the ethics and laws of the profession in the provision of midwifery services.
- Teaching self-learning methods to develop capabilities to demonstrate interest in continued learning for personal and professional advancement.
- Teaching methods of scientific research to demonstrate skill in conducting scientific research, interpreting and utilizing the findings from health-related research participate in the field of midwifery and to participate in conducting other health research.
- Providing midwife with skills to demonstrate the ability to plan and effect change in midwifery practice and in the health care delivery system.
- Instilling and developing the spirit of a cooperative health team in providing service and demonstrate leadership qualities and function effectively as midwife educator and manager.
- Develop midwives who will act as leaders and change agents, aware of the significance of innovation, creativity and best available evidence in the evaluation and development of woman-centred care and the maternity services
